Our Teen Bodybuilder of the Week was...
C.T. 'Smiley' Smith
How Did You Get Started? My friend, a football player, was always working out in middle school. He was big but not very lean. As a swimmer, I thought I would show him how it's done and get beefed up the right way. At about 15 years old, I decided to get serious. I read everything I could on Bodybuilding.com, including learning about which foods and training splits work. I have always wanted to be the teen of the week! If you want more info on me, check out my BodySpace at BodySpace.bodybuilding.com/ctsmiley. It has all my stats, goals, and more. I'd love for you to leave me a comment! What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
When I was in 9th grade, I tried the Mass-Cycle training split, but I didn't follow the high calorie diet. It was fairly intense, but called for 3 minutes of rest between each set. This wasn't enough for me. I have tweaked it over time, to come up with this 4-5 day split:
* Larger muscle groups: 12-20 sets * Smaller muscle groups: 4-12 sets
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
Right now I'm bulking, so I eat about 3300 Calories which include 70g Fat, 350g Carbs, and 290g Protein. MuscleTech's Nitro-Tech Hardcore Protein is by far the best protein I have ever taken. I gained about 5 pounds of muscle within a couple weeks. Men's Sport Multivitamins have also helped me stay at top performance.
Why Do You Love Bodybuilding? I feel like I am fairly good at bodybuilding. I enjoy seeing constant improvements in my strength and size. I believe bodybuilding reflects my personality. I strive for perfection in everything I do, including school, my job, and my relationships. When I set my mind to something, it will happen. People call me "Smiley" because I don't have an ego like many bodybuilders. To me, excellence is having a good personality to go along with the physique. What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans? This award may be what it takes for me to become very serious about bodybuilding. Up until now, bodybuilding has just been a great hobby. However, I may soon compete in my area.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders? It's your own journey, so don't let anything bring you down. Just learn from your mistakes, clear your head of negative trash, and give it all you've got. Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders? Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Levrone, and Victor Martinez. These guys are legendary. More Bodybuilder Profiles:
